Every year, an exhibition in the ArtLab of the Burgbrohl Art Pavilion focuses on works from the estate of Manfred Hammes. His life was characterized by many journeys. Sketches and drawings were always made on the road. Fragments were then taken up and worked out in the studio.
We have invited Annika Leese to the 2025 winter exhibition. She spent a year traveling through Europe with her husband in a VW bus. Always with her: sketchbooks and a roll of shopping receipt paper. A long line developed on the roll, always following the horizon, all the way to the Black Sea. The sketchbooks reflected what she experienced, saw and thought every day, sometimes quickly and spontaneously, sometimes slowly and precisely.
Annika Leese, born in Duisburg, studied art history and graphic design in Marburg, artist, lecturer, illustrator (e.g. for the Federal Agency for Civic Education, Sendung mit der Maus) and art educator. Lives in Bonn.

PS: As part of the exhibition, workshops can be booked to teach the themes and techniques of contemporary art in the ArtLab of the Kunstpavillon Burgbrohl. Visits can be combined with a practical session: for school classes of all ages, for kindergarten children, for small groups of art enthusiasts and as part of art education training, we offer an extensive and interesting program that is tailored to the needs and level of knowledge of the respective group.
