The tranquil winter journey on our narrow-gauge railroad into the hopefully snow-covered Eifel begins at 10:15 am. After around 1.5 hours, you will reach the terminus in Engeln, 459 meters above sea level - our train will have covered around 400 meters in altitude from the Rhine to the Eifel.

On the Eifel heights, you have the opportunity to take part in a guided hike and enjoy refreshments in the Brohl Valley restaurants along the way. After the hike, the comfortably warm heated carriages await you for the return journey to Brohl. Arrival in Brohl is at 15:40.

Ticket prices

Adults 21.50 euros, children up to 15 years 8.75 euros. The fare for adults includes a piccolo or non-alcoholic drink.

Brohltalbahn operates steam locomotive 11sm for the wine festival to EngelnIt’s a premiere: With full steam, the almost 120-year-old steam locomotive 11sm will pull the Vulkan-Expreß for the first time on a regular schedule over the steep route up to Engeln on the first weekend of October. What passengers, train enthusiasts, and steam fans have long wished for will become reality during the wine festival in Oberzissen.Steam operation is regularly available on the Brohltalbahn. Usually on one to two weekends per month, the historic Mallet steam locomotive 11sm travels through the Brohltal between Brohl-Lützing and Oberzissen, as it will again on September 6/7. On the steep section starting in Oberzissen, powerful diesel locomotives then take over the trains for the journey over the 1:20 incline (equivalent to 5%) up to the Eifel heights at Engeln. Departure in Brohl for the steam trains is always at 10:15 AM and 2:15 PM.
